  2. Coordinate with your chosen hospital.
  3. Collect and verify all supporting documents.
  4. Complete visa application forms accurately.
  5. Liaise with consulates for faster turnaround (1–2 working days).

  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Hospital invitation letter and confirmed treatment plan
  • Medical reports and referral letters from your local doctor
  • Proof of funds and accommodation details
  • Proof of relationship for attendants (if applicable)

VISA & STAY EXPERIENCE

What is an Indian Medical Visa?

An Indian Medical Visa (MED Visa) is a special visa issued to foreign nationals seeking advanced treatment in recognised Indian hospitals. It covers major medical procedures, surgeries, and long-term recovery programmes that may not be available or affordable in your home country.

The visa is typically valid for 60 days per visit, allowing up to three entries. If treatment extends beyond that period, Anvita Medtours helps you apply for an extension through the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Office).

How long is the Indian Medical Visa valid, and can it be extended?

The Medical Visa is generally granted for 60 days per visit and permits up to three entries for follow-ups or rehabilitation. Extensions are available if your treatment continues beyond this period.

Anvita Medtours assists with all visa extension formalities through FRRO or FRO offices, ensuring your care continues smoothly without interruptions.

Can family members or attendants travel with the patient?

Yes. India allows up to two family members — spouse, parent, or child — to accompany the patient on a Medical Attendant Visa (MED X Visa). These visas are directly linked to the patient’s medical visa and are processed at the same time for convenience.

Your attendants play an essential role in your recovery, and Anvita ensures their travel and stay are coordinated alongside yours.

Who is eligible to treat international patients in India?

Only hospitals accredited by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs can treat international patients and issue invitation letters for medical visas. These hospitals must be recognised by either:

  • The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH), or
  • Joint Commission International (JCI)

Additionally, they must be registered under the Clinical Establishments Act, employ licensed doctors recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI), and maintain international standards of ethics and patient safety.

Can I apply for multiple entries on a Medical Visa?

Yes. The Indian Medical Visa allows up to three entries, making it convenient for follow-ups or rehabilitation visits after initial treatment. Each entry is valid for up to 60 days.

If your care plan requires further visits, Anvita will coordinate with your treating hospital to support re-entry and extension requests.

What if I need to stay in India longer for recovery?

If your doctor certifies that your recovery requires more time, you can apply for a visa extension through the FRRO or FRO office. Anvita Medtours handles the documentation and hospital coordination for you.

This ensures uninterrupted care and legal compliance while you focus fully on your health.
